Aymara Route Tour in Puno – Aramu muru, Chucuito & Juli Full day
The Aymara Route Full Day is a cultural experience that allows you to discover the historical and spiritual richness of the Puno highlands in just one day. This journey combines archaeology, living traditions, and breathtaking landscapes along the shores of Lake Titicaca.
Along the way, you will visit the historic town of Chucuito and the mystical Inca Uyo, also known as the Temple of Fertility. This pre-Inca ceremonial site is full of symbolism and ancestral beliefs. You’ll also appreciate the colonial heritage reflected in its churches and traditional plazas—a place where history and tradition remain alive.
The tour continues to the Chullpas of Molloco, ancient funerary towers that reveal the worldview of highland cultures. You’ll also see the impressive Waru Waru, an ancient agricultural system that demonstrates the advanced knowledge of the Andean people. These techniques allowed them to cultivate flood-prone lands and protect crops from frost, all set against the stunning highland scenery.
Finally, the journey reaches the enigmatic Aramu Muru, known as the Devil’s Door, a place full of mysticism and legends. The tour concludes in Juli, called “The Little Rome of the Americas” for its majestic colonial churches. This experience offers an authentic connection with Aymara culture and is perfect for travelers seeking history, spirituality, and unforgettable Andean landscapes in a single day.
- 7:45 AM – Hotel pickup in the city of Puno.
- 8:00 AM – Departure from Puno.
- 8:30 AM – Arrival at the community of Chucuito.
- 8:35 AM – Visit Chucuito and the Temple of Fertility:
Explore Chucuito, known as “The City of the Royal Boxes,” which preserves important Inca vestiges. Then visit the sacred Inca Uyo, or Temple of Fertility, famous for its legendary powers. You will also see the main square, the Church of the Assumption, the solar clock, and other historic landmarks. - 8:50 AM – Visit the Chullpas of Molloco (Ácora):
Travel south of Puno to Molloco, where you’ll see ancient funerary towers, both circular and square, along with niches and underground tombs. These structures offer a glimpse into the funerary traditions of pre-Columbian highland cultures. - 9:30 AM – Andean Waru Waru Fields:
Learn about the Waru Waru, an ancient agricultural technique developed by highland communities. This ingenious system allows the cultivation of flood-prone lands while protecting crops from frost, showcasing the advanced knowledge of Andean farmers. - 11:00 AM – Aramu Muru:
Also known as Wilka Uta or “The Devil’s Gate,” this mystical site is full of spiritual energy and local legends. It is considered a sacred place for rituals and ceremonies. - 11:30 AM – Arrival in Juli and lunch:
After enjoying lunch, take a tour of Juli, known as “The Little Rome of the Americas.” The first Dominican missionaries arrived here in 1539, building churches and establishing religious doctrines. Today, the city preserves four colonial churches with names inspired by Rome: San Pedro, Santa Cruz, Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, and San Juan de Letrán. - 1:00 PM – Return to Puno.
